How we share this place

Community guidelines

Be useful, honest, and neighborly. Speak with the same honor and respect you would bring to a conversation on a front porch, at the feed store, or after church.

Keep it local and useful

  • Share something your neighbors may reasonably need, have, see, or know.
  • Choose the most truthful category and specific location for each post.
  • Use a clear subject and include enough detail for people to understand what you are asking or offering.
  • Post commercial work, services, jobs, and items for sale in the proper section.
  • Do not repeat the same post across categories or crowd out other neighbors with spam.

Treat people with respect

  • No threats, intimidation, harassment, hateful attacks, or encouragement of violence.
  • No doxxing or sharing another person's private address, phone number, email, records, or family details.
  • No impersonation, deliberate humiliation, or repeated unwanted contact.
  • Disagree with the claim or idea without trying to ruin the person.
  • Ordinary profanity may be written, but the public bulletin replaces it with matching asterisks. Obscene, hateful, threatening, or sexually explicit material is not treated as ordinary profanity.

Be truthful and safe

  • No scams, deceptive listings, stolen goods, unlawful services, or illegal sales.
  • Do not make serious accusations about a person or business without reliable, first-hand facts.
  • Clearly separate what you personally observed from rumor, interpretation, or speculation.
  • Do not post passwords, account numbers, medical records, or other sensitive information.

Share photos carefully

  • Upload only a photo you took or otherwise have permission to share publicly.
  • Do not post sexual exploitation, graphic violence, cruelty, or other unlawful or seriously disturbing images.
  • Respect people who did not choose to be posted, especially children and anyone in a private or vulnerable moment.
  • Check the visible picture for faces, license plates, house numbers, documents, and other private details before submitting it.
  • Describe each photo briefly and truthfully so neighbors who cannot see it can still understand the post or reply.

The normal uploader re-saves photos before sending them, removing common embedded camera and GPS metadata. The bulletin cannot hide identifying details that appear in the picture itself. Every submitted photo remains private until a local moderator approves that individual image. Approved photos are public and may be copied or shared by others.

Posting and moderation

Email verification confirms control of an inbox; it does not certify that someone is a local resident or that a post is true. Use ordinary good judgment when meeting, hiring, buying, selling, or exchanging money.

Each email address has one account and one permanent, unique public display name. Do not choose a name meant to impersonate another resident, organization, business, or public official.

Clean text may appear immediately after an automated first pass. Ordinary profanity is masked. Text that may contain a threat, serious accusation, explicit material, targeted abuse, suspicious links, or automated spam is held or blocked for local review. High-confidence hate speech, direct violent threats, sexual exploitation, and automated attacks may be rejected immediately. Automation assists the local moderator; it does not replace human judgment. The Bulletin moderator may hide or remove content or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to protect the community and enforce these guidelines.

Use private messages carefully

A private message request starts from a published post; you do not need to leave a public reply first. The post author receives one initial request and must accept it before the requester can send follow-up messages. A recipient may decline, block the requester, or turn off new message requests. Respect those choices and do not try to continue unwanted contact through another post or account.

  • No harassment, threats, hateful attacks, sexual exploitation, doxxing, impersonation, or repeated unwanted contact.
  • No scams, deceptive offers, requests for sign-in codes, advance payments, deposits, card details, or bank information.
  • Do not send passwords, medical records, identity documents, or other highly sensitive information.
  • The first version is plain text only. It does not accept message attachments or send new-message email or text notifications.

In normal use, messages are visible only to the two participants. If you report a message, a local moderator may review only that exact reported message before it expires. Reporting does not preserve the message or extend its 30-day deletion date. Private messages are not an emergency service; if someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency service instead of waiting for a reply or report review.

After reviewing that exact report, a moderator may restrict the sender from private messaging in this parish. A restriction closes conversations for further sending but does not publish the conversation, preserve its text, or suspend public posting. It can be removed after review. Use the private contact formfor a question or appeal.

Report a concern

If a post or reply appears to break these guidelines, use its private report link or contact the Bulletin moderator privately. Include the post title and a brief, factual explanation. Reports are reviewed in context; a disagreement alone does not guarantee removal.

This bulletin is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service instead of waiting for a post or report to be reviewed.

Who may use an account

Accounts are for adults age 18 or older at launch. By participating, you agree to follow these guidelines and accept responsibility for what you post.
